The Sweet Smell of Success
Share
I've been sitting with what this moment means for a few days.
The custom orders came early. The popups worked. The imagery landed, the packaging felt right, the social response grew into something real. By most measures, Chez Shea was succeeding.
But there was one check mark I didn't have yet.
The editorial.
Getting a luxury candle brand in front of the right editor, someone who would smell it, understand it, and want to tell the story, had been elusive. You can't buy that. You can't manufacture it. You just have to keep showing up and trust that the right moment will come.
It came.
Palm Beach Illustrated featured Chez Shea in their October issue.
Then the comments started coming in. From people who grew up here. From people who found their way here and never left. From people who visited once and never quite got over it.
They recognized something in these candles: a little of the Island they wanted to bring into their homes.
My heart soared.
One longtime customer, who has chosen Chez Shea candles as hostess gifts time and again, said it best:
“They are the most elegant, understated and appropriate representation of what makes Palm Beach so special. Absolute perfection.”
That felt like more than a compliment. It felt like confirmation.
You know that Sally Field moment at the Oscars? “You like me. You really like me.”
That's exactly how it felt. 🌺
