Where It All Started: A Girl, Three Brothers, and the Lake Trail

There's a photograph I keep coming back to.

Four kids — three older brothers and me, the youngest, the only girl — running barefoot down the Lake Trail in the North End of Palm Beach. The palms are leaning. The light is perfect. We are completely free.

I was about three years old in that photo. I didn't know it then, but everything that would eventually become Chez Shea Luxury Candles was already there — in the salt air, the citrus trees, the gardenia hedges, the pine-warmed breeze off the water. Palm Beach doesn't just look a certain way. It smells a certain way. And once that's in you, it never leaves.

Growing up in the North End, fragrance was everywhere. The florals that spilled over every garden wall. The sea air that followed you home. The citrus groves that made the whole island smell like something you wanted to bottle.

So I did.

The Palm Beach Collection for Chez Shea Luxury Candles is my attempt to give that back — to anyone who grew up here, visited once and never forgot it, or simply dreams of a life lived a little more beautifully. Each candle is a memory. Each scent is a place.

It started on the Lake Trail. It starts there still.
